Dor Zipori was born in Tel Aviv in 1988 and started his relationship with music by playing classical piano when he was 6 years old. He continued to play for 12 years and graduated Tel Aviv Conservatorium of music.
Dor discovered electronic music when he was about 13, when he was exposed to DJ Shadow’s album, ” Endtroducing….. “. He developed love for instrumental hip hop and breakbeat music by Ninja Tune label, and artists like Bonobo, Mr. Scruff and Wagon Christ. His love for independent music grew up and he began exploring new music and compiling sets at home.
He first began to DJ when he was 21 in Tel Aviv’s most famous underground bar at the time, the Riff Raff. After catching the attention of the Israeli musician Assaf Amdursky, he became the resident of the successful multi sexual party line “Cheesecake” that has been running for over a year now at The Breakfast Club. He was also a resident DJ for Shimon Shirazi’s line of parties “Code” at The Block club and during that period he got to play with artists like In Flagranti, Pol_On, Matias Aguayo, James Priestley, Lee Foss & Tim Sweeney.
Other than being a party DJ, Dor is the house DJ for Picnic Magazine since 2011. Under that title he got to edit a soundtrack for the magazine’s exhibition in Beit Ha’ir in Tel Aviv. He also played in November 2011, in one of the biggest art fair in Miami called “Art Basel” representing Tel Aviv and Picnic Magazine.
In addition, Dor is working on recording a line of sets for the enjoyment of his close friends (and himself) entitled “Compililies” – music of his choice which is influenced by his own vision, and it can be heard or downloaded from his Soundcloud page and his facebook page. His style is inspired mostly by house and deep house music tracks, with touches of techno and UK bass music, as well as avant-garde, experimental, drone, classical, jazz and world music.
